Luke Savage is making a name for himself in the Rangers farm system

With the start of the 2026 MLB season just a few months away, the Texas Rangers’ farm system is full of intriguing talent. One prospect who is making a name for themselves is Luke Savage. The Pennsylvania native was signed as an undrafted free agent following the 2023 MLB Draft and has made the most of his opportunities in the minors.

Through his first 59 minor league outings, the TCU product has posted a 2.91 ERA and struck out 80 batters. He has also excelled in high-leverage situations, converting 12 of his 15 opportunities. For Savage, the opportunity to pitch for the Rangers organization has been a dream come true.

“ Growing up, I lived in Texas since I was in fourth grade, so I was a Rangers fan.” Savage said. “ It talked with my agent before the draft and had a number, and the Rangers were the first ones to reach out and offer what I was looking for. It felt like a perfect fit and everything took off from there.”

While Savage has battled injuries at times, he has been hard to barrel up when healthy. He spent all of the 2025 campaign in Low-A, finishing with a 1.49 ERA in 26 games. Regardless of the level, the talented righty has been able to make adjustments and keep opponents off balance.

“ I think each level is challenging in its own way,” said Savage. “ Obviously, the goal is to get to the big leagues, and I think being patient and trusting the process instead of looking at the outcome is big. Each level is definitely different. At Low-A, there are a lot of younger guys, and it gets a little older as you get to High-A. Everyone is super talented, no matter where they are going to be. I think every level you jump is just one more of a tick in the mental game.”

As Savage has moved closer to the majors, he has become a trusted option late games. The 2025 campaign marked the second straight year, he recorded at least six saves. For Savage it is a situation, he enjoys being in.

“ If I could pick, I would want to be a closer,” said Savage. “ Obviously, coming out of the pen you don’t always know when to get going, but having a defined close role, you know when to lock in. When you have a one-run game, there’s not much better than coming and closing the door.”

After posting the lowest ERA of his career, Savage is poised to continue rising up the Rangers’ prospects ranks. His focus is on continuing to improve while avoiding the injury list as much as possible.

“ I think a big one would be stay healthy,” Savage said. “ It’s a long season, and the best availability is availability. Another one is staying confident and staying true to myself.”
